Sausage Cream Cheese Salsa Dip

This delicious recipe is the perfect quick-fix for any gathering, designed to go from prep to presentation in under half an hour. I love using a skillet for the entire cooking process— it doubles as a serving dish when I’m at home, making clean-up a breeze. When I’m bringing the dish on the go, I simply transfer it to a crockpot to keep it warm when we get together to enjoy time with loved ones!

Ingredients Needed

  • Hot Italian Sausage
  • Block of Cream Cheese
  • Salsa

Optional Ingredients

Green Onions

Cilantro

Can I use other Ingredients?

Absolutely, any type of ground sausage except maple syrup flavored can be used in the recipe. The preferred heat level of salsa is up to you, with an option to use home-canned salsa or Rotel tomatoes as a substitute. For additional heat, hot pepper flakes or hot sauce like Franks can be added to taste. Want to lower the fat content, then use low fat cream cheese. The possibilities for customizing this hearty dip are vast.

How to Make Cream Cheese Dip

In a skillet brown and crumple the sausage on medium high heat, turn the heat down to medium and add the salsa. Once the salsa and sausage are hot, add the block of cream cheese. Take your Spatcher and break up the cream cheese until melted and blended together. Transfer to a bowl, serve out of the pan or transfer to a crockpot set on low heat. Open a Bag of your favorite tortilla chips and enjoy. I like to garnish my dip with thin sliced green onion and cilantro.

Why is this Recipe so Popular?

Because it is tasty and so simple to make with only three necessary ingredients. It’s convenient for travel, can be reheated, and is a perfect choice for gatherings, such as a Super Bowl party. The recipe also offers the option to add more ingredients for those who wish to enhance it. Since this recipe is so easy you now have time to make some Cuban Ham Sliders or a bowl of Loaded Potato Salad.
